Spirit Award

The Tom Bearson Foundation created the Tom Bearson Foundation Spirit Award/Scholarship to recognize the achievements, dedication, and positive spirit put forth by a Central Minnesota student athlete. The Tom Bearson Foundation will award a $1,500 scholarship to the student athlete that best represents those attributes. 



Students from the following schools are eligible for this award:

Annandale, Avon - Albany, Becker, Eden Valley - Watkins, Foley, Holdingford, Kimball, Little Falls, Melrose, Milaca, Monticello, New London - Spicer, Paynesville, Pierz, Princeton, Rocori, St. Cloud Apollo, St. Cloud Cathedral, St. Cloud Christian School, St. Cloud Tech, St. John's Prep, Sartell, Sauk Centre, Sauk Rapids - Rice, and Upsala

The winner of the 2019 Tom Bearson Spirit Award ($1,500) is Ava Emmerich! Ava played varsity soccer, basketball, and lacrosse in high school, and plans to attend the University of St. Thomas this fall to obtain a bachelor's degree in biochemistry. Congratulations, Ava!

The Tom Bearson Foundation 2018 Spirit Award ($1,500) recipient is Meghan Lentz from Apollo High School. Meghan was the captain of her volleyball team and plans to play volleyball at Concordia College Moorhead. 

The Tom Bearson Foundation 2017 Spirit Award ($2,500) recipient is Allie Dolan from St. Cloud Tech High School. Allie is the oldest of 3 children of David and Kelly Dolan, and she is a three sport athlete at Tech. 

Our 2016 winner is Michael Meyer, from Pierz, Minnesota. While reading through his essay, we learned that he shared some of the same great qualities we found in our son, Tom, and that he definitely deserved to win our inaugural Spirit Award, along with a $1,000 check.
